A GATHERING AT THE MINE
14/04/2012 8pm-3am
Apedale Valley has a long history of mining that is believed to pre-date the
Romano-British period, with archaeological evidence found of small scale surface
mining found locally. The mine as we see it today ceased production in 1998
after many years of production. But the history of the area holds many dark
secrets, with strong links to witchcraft and sacrifice. Not forgetting the many
battles between the ancient Britons and the advancing Roman army.
With all the history and mining tragedies in the area it is little wonder that
the activity here is so intense with many reports of whistling and feelings of
being touched along with the noises of working coming from the coal face ,tools
standing up as though unseen hands are holding them and many apparitions seen by
visitors and staff alike. The activity is not restricted to only the mine as
there are many reports of activity around the site with extreme activity noted
in the museum.
Walk in the footsteps of many miners join us for a unique investigation and have
unrestricted access to the mine both above and below ground and the mine
