The first fortification was built at this extremely strategic and defensive point in 1543, and from that time the fort has grown to what we see today. The fort has had many military uses and active service, from the Dutch wars through to world war two and beyond finally being decommissioned in1956. 
  
 
With such a chequered history it is no surprise that this fort is so paranormally active. Activity to look out for includes many reports of spectral voices spoken in a foreign tongue, the sounds of activity on the parade ground shouts etc, shadow like figures all around the fort, many orbs noises emf spikes and much more.
