Drakelow Darkness

Drakelow Tunnels are a massive subterranean complex of tunnels. Originally cut into the sandstone near Wolverly, close to Kidderminster to be used by rover as a shadow factory manufacturing aeroplane engine parts during world war 2. Once the war effort was completed the tunnels stayed under the control of the R.A.F and the Air Ministry. Later the tunnels became a cold war control centre housing a B.B.C. broadcasting suite and the tunnels were  only decommissioned at the end of the cold war period.

During the construction of the factory there were many accidents which caused serious injury and deaths, there were also many reports of brutality and rape within the darkness of the tunnels. The history of this dauntingly dark and oppressive venue has undoubtedly left its mark and made it one of the most active venues in the area.
