The hauntings of Ryecroft hall
7/04/12 8pm-4am
Ryecroft Hall was built in 1849 by James Smith Buckley, on land purchased from
the earl of Stamford and Warrington who owned much of the land around Tameside
and much of the land is still owned by his estate today. James however died
after only 2 years of owning the Hall. Ryecroft was inherited by his eldest son
James who sold it to his Brother William Smith Buckley, Who lived in the Hall
until his death some 26 years later. Ryecroft then passed onto Abel, William's
cousin who had many financial interests including Mining. engineering, cotton
and textiles. During the great war (1914-1918), Ryecroft became a Red Cross
hospital and communications centre and evidence of this can still be seen in the
extensive cellars.
Join us at Ryecroft and see what activity can be found inside Ryecroft Hall.
Activity regularly reported here includes voices and singing heard in the
cellars, shadows seen passing along the hallways and corridors. Also some people
find themselves becoming emotional without just cause.
