The origins of this complex of tunnels are shrouded in in mystery. Situated just four miles from Edinburgh City centre, over the years there have been many theories as to the history of Gilmerton Cove. The only things that are sure about the cove is that firstly the tunnels are man made and cut by hand and secondly the Gilmerton Cove tunnels complex is extremely Haunted!

The staff at Gilmerton cove have seen many strange and unexplainable occurrences and happenings. Many of these go some way to supporting several of the historic theories such as the cove having links to the knights templars and also maybe being a safe haven for the covenanters, also many believe there is a link to witchcraft and the black arts giving rise to the name cove  (shortened from coven).
